Gear & Uses
Everything I use — cameras, lenses, drone, 3D printing, and kitchen.
I've gone through a few iterations of gear over the years — some sold, some upgraded, some on the wishlist.
This is the current state of things. Nothing affiliate-linked, no sponsorships — just what I actually use.
📷 Cameras
Started with film-era Nikon DNA, ended up mirrorless.
Primary
⚡
Nikon Z8
45.7MP full-frame mirrorless. Stacked sensor, 20fps RAW, 8K video. The camera that made me stop thinking about gear.
In Use
📷
Nikon D750
24.3MP full-frame DSLR. Still rock solid as a backup body. Excellent dynamic range and low-light performance.
Sold
📷
Nikon D90
Where it all started. 12.3MP APS-C. Taught me everything about exposure, metering, and patience.
🔭 Lenses
A mix of Nikon Z-mount and F-mount via FTZ adapter.
Primary
🦅
Nikon Z 180-600mm f/5.6-6.3
The reason I bought the Z8. Incredible reach for wildlife and travel. VR is witchcraft at 600mm.
In Use
🔍
Sigma 24-70mm f/2.8 Art
Workhorse zoom. Sharp corner to corner at f/2.8. The lens on the camera 80% of the time.
In Use
🎯
Sigma 50mm f/1.4 Art
Portrait and low-light king. The bokeh at 1.4 is obscene. Heavy, but worth it.
In Use
🌍
Tokina 10-24mm f/3.5-4.5
Ultra-wide on APS-C. Landscapes, architecture, tight spaces. Dramatic perspective every time.
In Use
📡
Nikkor 70-300mm f/4.5-5.6G
Lightweight telephoto. Great reach when I don't want to carry the 180-600. Good for travel days.
Accessory
✖️
Teleconverter
Extends reach on the 180-600. Loses a stop but gives you 840mm+ when you need to reach something far.
Sold
📷
Nikkor 18-105mm f/3.5-5.6
The kit lens that came with the D90. Versatile for a beginner, outgrown it eventually.
🚁 Drones
From bulky to compact — the Mini 3 Pro goes everywhere.
Current
🚁
DJI Mini 3 Pro
249g — under the registration threshold in most countries. 4K/60fps, tri-directional obstacle sensing, 34-min battery. Fits in a jacket pocket. Bought 2 years ago and it's been everywhere.
Sold
🛸
DJI Phantom 3
The classic white flying fridge. 2.7K video, GPS hold, good bones. Heavy to travel with — that's what killed it for me.
🖨️ 3D Printing
FDM printing — functional parts, enclosures, and the occasional trinket.
Incoming
🔧
Next printer TBD
Sold the Kobra 2 Max, evaluating what's next. Leaning toward something with multi-material capability or a larger enclosure.
Sold
🖨️
Anycubic Kobra 2 Max
420×420×500mm build volume. Fast for its size. Great for large flat prints and structural parts. Sold to fund the upgrade.
🔪 Kitchen
Buy once, cry once. Wüsthof and Lodge are forever.
Daily Driver
🍳
Lodge 10.25" Cast Iron Skillet
Sears better than anything else I own. Goes from stovetop to oven to campfire. Virtually indestructible, gets better every year. The pan I'd grab if the kitchen was on fire.
Wüsthof Classic Collection
8" Chef's Knife
The workhorse. 80% of all kitchen tasks.
Bread Knife
Serrated. Sourdough doesn't stand a chance.
Paring Knife
Peeling, trimming, fine work.
Santoku 7"
Thinner blade, great for vegetables and fish.
Boning Knife
Flexible. Whole chickens, fish fillets.
Utility Knife 6"
The gap-filler between paring and chef.
Carving Knife
Long, thin. Roasts and whole cuts.
Honing Steel
Weekly maintenance keeps the edge true.
💡 Wüsthof Classic is forged high-carbon stainless steel — sharper than stamped knives, holds an edge longer.
A proper honing steel between uses and a whetstone twice a year is all they need.
Mine are hand-washed only — dishwashers are where good knives go to die.
